Water + Salad Detox

This one is called the Water+Salad Detox because it is still a brilliantly simple detox, but it does require a little more discipline. On this detox plan, the goal is to have raw fruits and veggies at every meal. Lunch and Dinner are large salads. You still add on the protein of your choice.

It builds upon the Water+Greens Detox. The very first step of any detox plan is to simply add water to your diet. Drink 16-32oz of water with lemon at least 30 minutes 1st thing in the morning and then before every meal. You drink this first, because it jump starts the metabolism and flushes out toxins that the body worked all night to find.

Next, for breakfast eat some water-based fruit. This can include melons (not combined with any other fruit because they are digested at a different rate than other types of fruit), grapes, apples, oranges, grapefruits (a personal favorite), papaya, etc. Just no bananas which are denser with more concentrated sugars.

For lunch and dinner make a great big salad with lots of leafy greens – spinach, baby spring mix, kale, etc. and at least three (3) other raw vegetables – cucumbers, red peppers, tomatoes, avocados, onions, olives, etc. It doesn’t matter what else is on the salad at this point – it could be a fried pork chop if that’s what you want. The object is to introduce the healing power of greens and fresh veggies into your daily diet. Just one caveat is to have more veggies than anything else and not to drown your salad in dressing.

These small changes make a huge difference behind the scenes and they don’t require a a totally new grocery bill or crazy special preparation.

THE SUM UP:

  1. Before Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner – drink 16 – 32 oz of water with lemon
  2. Breakfast – water based fruit for breakfast.
  3. Lunch and Dinner – Large salad with lots of raw leafy greens and at least three (3) other raw veggies – cucumbers, red peppers, tomatoes, avocados, onions, etc.
