5 Detox Don’ts

Last week I shared 5 things to do before and during a Detox. If you missed them, you can check them out HERE. So now I’m sharing my top five Don’ts during and after a Detox. Keep reading below. And I’d love to hear your thoughts!

01. Don’t Detox to Lose Weight

Keep the main thing the main thing. Detoxification is about healing the body cellularly. Although losing weight and exercising can go a long way to strengthen the body, build self-confidence, and improve mood and bodily vitals. It may not address the healing that is needed. I was a lean, mean, exercising machine and was still diagnosed with MS. And the truth is that exercise can often damage joints and stress the heart of someone who is acidic and in need of a detox. Detoxification gets to the root cause of dis-ease in the body. The good news, however, is that looking younger, gaining more energy, and losing weight are already a few of the benefits of the detoxification process. It’s a two-fer!

02. Don’t Tell Everyone

Not everyone deserves to know what you‘re doing. I’ve learned the hard way that many people won’t understand this method of healing and will discourage you or even try to distract you from walking your path. And unfortunately, this may include friends and family – even with the best of intentions. Many times you must be the example instead of talking about it. The results will speak volumes. Then let them approach you with an open mind, loving heart, and genuine curiosity.

03. Don’t Fear Healing Crises

This one is a biggie. A healing crisis during detoxification is very common and even expected. It is the body disspelling toxins in a way that mimics “die-ease” symptoms or even symptoms you’ve never had before. A healing crisis is usually uncomfortable, lasts 1-3 days, and can falsely lead you to believe that the detoxification process isn’t working. This is when you must trust the wisdom of the body and the power of nature. In the Health Freedom Detox Course I teach ways to navigate through thIs process as the crises arise. But rest assured you actually WANT the healing crises. Each one gets you closer to the heath freedom you deserve.

04. Don’t Do Enemas or Colonics

There is a time for enemas. Like when someone cannot take nourishment through the mouth or when you want to provide healing to and through the bowels. But in general, they should not be depended upon for bowel moements or cleansing the colon during a detox. When rhey are used this way, you can rob the bowels of their muscle tone and decease the natural peristalsis or contractions. Colonics are even worse, in my opinion, because they are enervating and steal your energy. After one you may feel better, but in my experience, more than that and you will leave with barely enough energy to drive home. I think the myth of colonic healing stems from the fact that there’s actual physical evidence of waste coming from our intestines. So we make the connection that that must be where the problem originates. But digestive system is for food waste. The real culprit is cellular metabolic waste and an enema and a colonic won’r wash that away. Plus during a detox your bowels are also healing. Regular, healthy bowel movements will return as the detox progresses with no additional help at all.

05. Don’t Return to Old Habits

This may seem obvious, but it is very important to mention. A detoxified body is stronger, cleaner, and has a better immune system, but it isn’t invinceable. Without care it can get clogged up and bogged down again. Detoxification – for however long you luxuriate in this amazing level of healing (although I suggest for a lifetime 😊) – is a reset for your body. A time to change bad eating habits and permanently incorporate foods and a lifestyle that reinforce and continue to alkalize the body, not abuse it again. The goal is to achieve Freeom from a medical system that only sees you as a customer. Not to voluntarily imprison yourelf after all your hard work to break free.

Hopefully, these tips can help you avoid some pitfalls during and after your Detox!
