Top 5 Detox Do’s

Starting a Detox is an undertaking. Today, I’m sharing my tops tips for starting a Detox. READ BELOW for some Do’s to follow while prepping or while in Detox Mode.

1. Do Prepare

The hardest part of beginning a detox, whether using raw foods, fruit only, or juicing is the transition from your normal diet. Do yourself a favor – physically and mentally – by getting over this hurdle prior to the beginning of your Detox. At least one week before, but preferable two, begin to eliminate dairy, meats, alcohol, refined sugar, and caffeinated drinks. Eat as much fresh fruit and veggies as possible. Make sure you are drinking adequate water as well. This will go a long way in making the transition to the leaner requirements of the actual Detox much easier.

2. Do Avoid Temptation

Those first few days of preparing for a Detox or the Detox itself can be the most challenging. Staying away from temptation is the best strategy during this time. Delete food delivery apps from you phone. Try to avoid social gatherings centered around food. Ask friends and family not to bring food to your home until you get over the emotional desire for your old foods.

3. Do Clean out your fridge

Start cleaning out your refrigerator and cabinets. Give leftovers, frozen foods, and ingredients that should not be eaten while Detoxing to friends and family. Take canned goods to your favorite charity. I recognize that clearing food out may not be an option if have to prepare meals for others while you are Detoxing. Ask them to support your efforts by being receptive and even assisting you in preparing cooked vegan or raw vegan meals as a healthy alternative for everyone.

4. Do Keep a Journal

Keeping a journal serves multiple purposes during a Detox. Firstly, you want to keep track of any symptoms and reactions. This is vital information as you move deeper into your Detox. It also allows you to more effectively communicate any concerns to your Detox Coach, if you seek assistance. But emotionally and spiritually, keeping a daily journal of your dreams, epiphanies, deepest desires and thoughts as you Detox allows you to connect to your higher self like during no other time.

5. Do Rest

Adequate rest is vital at all times of our lives, but even more so while Detoxing as the goal is to divert as much energy as possible to cleaning and repairing the body. Try not to schedule strenuous exercise or physically and mentally demanding tasks while detoxing. Also avoid as much stress as possible – worry, people that drain your energy, arguments, and things that make you sad. Although, harder to do, try to also avoid stress at work. If possible, plan to meet deadlines ahead of schedule or if you are able, take time off to dedicate to your Detox.

Hopefully, these tips will help you ease into your Detox!
